Fruit and Fossil Designs
welcome!
This is my first website and I’m learning on the fly, so please be patient.
I hope to see you here again soon and often!
Let's Go!
Where I am, where I’ve been and where I’m headed.
I travel the west (often with my trusty sidekick Mushroom Dog, CC) in search of inspiration, media and community. Follow the link for information about where you can see my work, places we have explored or are exploring and forays we plan to attend.
We hope to see you out there!

About me, Karen Ames
Note: The following was written for a bio in my first shop space. I don’t always speak about myself in the third person.
Karen Ames is a talented and versatile artist known for creating captivating, one-of-a-kind art pieces and incorporating her artistic style in furniture renewal and revitalization projects.
Her artwork is a product of her passion to discover and uncover beauty in discarded and found items that might otherwise have been destined for the landfill.
She combines her love for creating and using colors inspired by nature to showcase a blend of colors and textures in her carvings, paintings, jewelry, home decor and revived furniture rescues.
Karen was raised in Tucson and is motivated by her love for her community and her background in hair design to find new and fun ways to bring beauty to those who commission custom designs.
Karen strives to make a positive impact through her artistic pursuits. She believes turning garbage into art inspires conversation and provokes consideration about what is thrown away.
Karen loves pushing the boundaries of creativity and innovation, hoping to leave a lasting, joyful impression on all who experience her art.
